—   Henry A "Sam" Juberien, 88, formerly of Waseca, MN, died on Tuesday, October 23rd, at his home in Mesa, Arizona.  

  Sam was born July 22, 1924, in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County, MN to Frank and Emma (Meyer) Juberien.  On December 6, 1957, he married Karla A Dubke at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato.  Sam loved growing up and living on the family farm.  He

spent much of his early life working on the farm with his siblings and later his brother, Wally.  In 1959, Sam ventured into the bowling business, owning the Urban Lanes in North Mankato.  In 1964, he built his first bowling alley in Mankato and in 1970 he built a bowling alley in Waseca.  Sam was a charter member of the Mankato Bowling Hall of Fame.  After selling the bowling alleys, Sam worked several places including selling cars, selling commercial real estate, managing several Kwik Trip stores, and owning the Red Roof Ballroom in Adrian, MN.  Sam eventually retired from the EF Johnson Company in 1989 and together, he and Karla moved to Mesa, Arizona.  During the summers after his retirement, Sam enjoyed mowing the grass at Lakeside Golf Course in Waseca.

  Sam enjoyed sports, playing baseball and football in high school.  He continued playing baseball with his brothers Jim and Wally for many local teams in the Nicollet and Courtland area eventually managing the Courtland baseball team. Sam also enjoyed watching sports and was an avid MN Twins and Vikings fan.  He enjoyed bowling and passed this passion onto his children all of whom bowled in many leagues.  He loved to challenge himself with crossword puzzles even calling long distance from Arizona to get help with a few clues.  While in Arizona, he met and made life-long friends spending time with them golfing and playing cards.  He cherished his time with his family and spent much of his summers in Minnesota following his grandchildren's activities and sporting events.

  Sam is survived by his wife, Karla; sons, Jeffrey (Deb) Juberien of Waseca, Jon (Darolyn) Juberien of Waseca; Jay (Lorie) Juberien of Waconia; his daughters, Tami Juberien, Pam (Wes) Schaper, and Brenda (Craig) Miller, all of Waseca; grandchildren, Heather (Brian Borglum) Jellum, Jessica (Luke) Macho, Kaylee (Justin Frye) Melhorn, Sam Schaper, Abby Schaper, Taylor Juberien, Taryn Juberien, Michael Kunz, Laura Kunz, William Miller, Thomas Miller, Tatum Juberien, Cooper Juberien; 4 great grandchildren  Kole, Isabella, Addyson, and Rylee; sisters, Georgia "Pal" (Fritz) Dauer of New Hope, Joyce (Bruce) Long of Waterville; sister-in-law, Gladys (Jim) Erickson of St. Peter, brother-in-law, Loren (Elda) Dubke of North Mankato; many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and two brothers.

  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, November 7th, at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Roger Haug, officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6th at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca and will continue 1 hour prior to the memorial service.
