Ruth Schlegel

—   Ruth Schlegel, age 86 of Le Sueur, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur.  Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13 at the United Methodist Church in Le Sueur.  Rev. Luke Nelson will officiate.  Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Kolden Funeral Home and also one hour prior to service time at the church.  Interment will be in Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur.

  Ruth was born on February 21, 1926 to Oscar and Luella (Klanke) Day in Amboy, Mn.  Her family moved to Le Sueur when she was about 3 years old.  She graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1944.  She worked for the local Department of Agriculture as an egg inspector, she had also worked as a restaurant cook.

  She married Erwin Schlegel on July 6, 1947 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis.  She was a member of United Methodist Church, served on education committee, memorial committee, administrative board and a member of U.M.W and was officer of U.M.W. for many years.  She was also on the bible school kitchen committee for many years, and Book Buddy in her later years.  She enjoyed gardening, embroidering and reading.

  Ruth is survived by her sons, Wes (Patricia) Schlegel of Le Sueur and Wayne (Kathie) Schlegel of Northfield; brother, David Day of Morris, Mn; and many nieces and nephews.

  Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erwin on March 8, 1999; brother, Warren; and sisters, Lois, Marilyn and Patty.
