Marlene Kaye Balk

— Marlene Kaye Balk, age 56 of Waseca died on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waseca.

  Born on December 12, 1955 in Springfield, Minnesota she was the daughter of Leo and Fern (Smith) Landkammer.  She attended school in Sleepy Eye.  Marlene married Hugo Balk on January 5, 1974 in Essig, Minnesota.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed Sudoku puzzles, Yahtzee, and Dog the Bounty Hunter and was a member of the Womens Bowling Congress.

  Marlene is survived by her husband, Hugo of Waseca; children, Corine (Kevin) Mertins of Carpenter, SD, Jason (Lena) Balk of New Market, and Brandi Balk and special friend, Nyle Delgamoni of Waseca; and seven grandchildren.  She is also survived by siblings, Marvin "Smokie" Landkammer of Waseca, Don (Mary Ann) Landkammer of Waseca, Roman (Kathy) Landkammer of Sleepy Eye, Richard (RuthAnn) Landkammer of Glencoe, and Loren (Leanne) Landkammer of Glencoe; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.

  Friends and family may join the Balk family in a casual memorial gathering on Saturday, July 28, 2012 from 4-8 PM at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca.
