Dorothy Nichols

— Dorothy Nichols, 79, of New Ulm, died Saturday, December 8, 2012, at her home.  Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, North Chapel, in New Ulm with Pastor Ric Jacobsen officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in the Cambria Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday.  To leave an online condolence for her family or to sign the guestbook go to: www.mvfh.org.

  Dorothy is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Ada Rose Anderson of Nicollet, Jan and Tom Robb of Waterville; special niece and nephew, Deborah (John) Cloonan of Oswego, New York, Michael Nichols of New Ulm; and other nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

  Dorothy Mae Nichols was born on March 28, 1933, in Cottonwoood Township, Brown County, to Edward A. and Ada Irene (Gloeckler) Nichols.  She became guardian and took care of her niece and nephew for many years and was a mentor and motivator for many family members during her life.  Dorothy loved nature, mushrooming, hunting, fishing, traveling and taking care of wild animals.  She owned and operated Dotty's Upholstery Shop for 25 years and had also been a hostess at the "Cat-N-Fiddle" supper club.   www.mvfh.org
