Harry N. Steckelberg, age 95, of Wells, MN, died Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea, MN. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Wells, MN with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the Church. Pastor Paul Woolverton will officiate and burial will be in the Rice Lake Cemetery, Foster Twp, Faribault Co., MN. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family with arrangements.
Harry was born January 2, 1915 in Foster Township, Faribault County, the son of Henry and Cora (Juliar) Steckelberg. Harry attended country school-District #25 at Rice Lake, as his father did before him. On September 15, 1938, he married Vidella Passer at the Rice Lake Church in rural Wells. Harry was a long time member of the Rice Lake Methodist Church and ushered for over 50 years, until the church closing and the couple became members of the United Methodist Church in Wells. Harry farmed until the age of 88 when he couldn’t get into the tractor anymore. He loved to visit with family and friends.
Harry is survived by his son, Melvin Steckelberg of Wells, MN; brother-in-law: Forrest Passer of Albert Lea, MN; and three nieces and their families: Edith (Louie) Hintz of Kiester, MN, Virginia (Orville) Lamb of Alexandria, MN, and Julie (Mike) Brooks of Bloomington, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers in infancy; sister, Marion Courrier, and his wife Vidella on January 24, 2010.
