    Alma Born, North Mankato, 86, died January 12, 2013, at the Mapleton Community Home. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Wong officiating. Visitation will be one and half hours prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.

  Alma was born September 22, 1926, in Fairbault, MN, to August L. and Alma M. (Doering) Sohre.  She was baptized October 3, 1926, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbault. Alma attended St. Johns Lutheran and Good Thunder Public School.  On February 25, 1943, she married Raymond Born at St. Johns Lutheran Church Parsonage.  The couple then farmed in the Good Thunder and Mapleton area until moving to North Mankato in 1957.  She was employed at Mid-Tex for 28 years.

  Alma enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening.  She was a member of St. Paul's Veangelical Lutheran Church.

   She is survived by daughter, Carolyn (Jergen) Eschmann and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

   Alma is preceded in death by her husband, Ray; two children, Gary and Barb; three brothers, Ervin, Clarence, and August; and two sisters, Mildred and Miranda.
