Marlin H. Abbott, age 84, of Lake Crystal, died Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Autumn Grace Senior Services in Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Nancy Dreier officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Marlin Hudson was born October 26, 1928, to Glen and Dorothy (Hudson) Abbott in Lake Crystal. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1946. On April 29, 1951, Marlin was united in marriage to Norma Jean Larson in a country church near Butternut and made their home in Lake Crystal. They were blessed with three children: Jim, Chuck, and Kathy. Marlin retired from the United States Navy after 20 years and the Minnesota State Department of Agriculture after 24 years. He was a past member of the Lions and a member of the American Legion Post #294 for 46 years. Marlin was an avid fisherman, a softball coach, as well as being active in all youth sports. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and attending all of his grandchildrens sporting events. Marlin loved to socialize. He could talk to anybody and always had a joke, if not two or three! Marlin will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.
Marlin is survived by his wife, Norma; three children: Jim Abbott, Chuck Abbott, and Kathy (Steve) Barnett; grandchildren: Aric (Christy) Barnett, Jonathan (Katlyn) Abbott, Laura Abbott, Arin Barnett and fianc Ryan Meyer, Kari Abbott and fianc Scott Ehlenfeldt; great-grandchild: Carter Barnett; former daughter-in-law: Kathy Abbott; one niece, one nephew, and cousins.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Willard Abbott.
