Forest E. "Sam" Van Camp, 80, Mankato, died Monday, November 19, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Mankato. Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in North Mankato. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the Church. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Memorials are preferred to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd Building Fund. Woodland Hills Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Sam was born September 12, 1932, in East Chain, MN, to John and Myrtie (Jenkins) Van Camp. On July 25, 1969, he was united in marriage to Dolores Lohmann in Brookings, SD. For over 32 years Sam was co-owner of Superior Auto Body in Mankato until his retirement. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, woodworking, and bird watching.
Sam is survived by his wife, Dolores; children, Daniel Van Camp (Sally) of Madison Lake, Linda Ryg (Bruce) of Eagle Lake, Cheryl Fleck of Cleveland, Mary Hix (Greg) of North Mankato, John Van Camp (Kelly) of Kasson, ;many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; step-children, Carol Murphy of North Mankato, Karen Buckmister (Larry) of Mankato, David Lohmann (Vicky) of Mankato, Dennis Lohmann (Linda) of Easton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald, sister, Leona; step-son, Duane; and his dog, Peppi Jo.
