Robert "Bob" W. Smith

—  Robert "Bob" W. Smith, age 78, of Mankato, MN, died Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Mayo System Health Clinic-Mankato.  A memorial service will be held at1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato.  Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service.  Inurnment will be in Woodland Hills Columbarium.

   Robert was born November 5, 1934, in Mankato to Major and Mabel (Nassif) Smith.  Mr. Smith worked for the City of Mankato where he ran the Parking and Traffic Department for 40 years, retiring in 1990.  In his leisure time he enjoyed woodworking, motorcycle riding, fishing and gardening.

  He is survived by his best friend and longtime partner, Barbara Youell of Mankato; 5 children, Patrick S. (Kris) Smith of Barnesville, Michael (Cindy) Smith of Mankato, Denise Smith, Tammy Smith of St. Peter, Todd (John) Smith of Elk River; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Richard "Dick" Smith of Mankato; 2 sisters, Sharon Grothe of Mankato, Barbara Rachuy of Mankato; many nieces and nephews.

  Bob is also survived by extended family members, Frank (Pam) Youell of Prophetstown, IL, Shawn (Kelly) Youell of Lake Port, CA, Shane (Nicole) Youell of Mankato; very good friends, Warren Stamerelius and John Hiniker.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Smith, 2 brothers, Marvin "Butch" Smith and Thomas "Darold" Smith; 1 sister, Jan Evans.
