Marcella E. Kopischke

—  Marcella E. Kopischke, age 85 of Mankato, formerly of Janesville, died on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Sunrise Cottage of Mankato.

 Memorial services will be held Sunday, February 24th at 3:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin, officiating.  Interment will be in the Smiths Mill Cemetery.  

  The Kopischke Family will greet family & friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church prior to services.  Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville is handling funeral arrangements.

  Marcella Edith was born on October 10, 1927, in Mankato, Minnesota to William F. and Wilhelmina (Stankey) Quast.  Marcella was baptized on October 30, 1927, and confirmed June 9, 1940, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill.  She graduated with the class of 1944 from Janesville High School.  On April 15, 1947 Marcella was united in marriage to Paul Rueben Kopischke at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill.  Marcella and Paul raised their family and farmed for over 30 years in Janesville Township.  In the spring of 1977 they moved into Janesville.  For many years Marcella waitressed at the Heritage House in Janesville.  She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville and its Ladies Aid.  She was an active member of the Janesville American Legion Auxiliary # 281, and past president of the 1st District American Legion Auxiliary.  She was also a member of the Waseca Sweet-Sommers VFW Auxiliary #1642, the Busy Bees Extension Group,  and former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Aerie #3753 in Waseca. Marcella and Paul and their family enjoyed many summers vacationing in the Hackensack area.

 She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Larry) Burke of Janesville, Sue Sheeran of Janesville, Brenda (Dennis) Schultz of Janesville, Ronda Morehead of Janesville, and Lisa Kopischkeof Mankato; grandchildren, Jessica Burke, Katie Burke, Tim (Arica) Burke, Ben (Cari) Sheeran, Josh ( Megan) Sheeran, Zach (Lindsey) Sheeran, Carrie (Ian) Parzyck, Elizabeth (Mark) Mitzel, John Schultz, Christina (Bryson) Havumaki, Courtney Krause; by 17 great grandchildren; brother, Billie (Luella) Quast of Janesville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Kopischke of Janesville; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul on October 1, 2011; by her parents; brothers-in-law, Edward (Agnes) Kopischke Sr., Arthur (Delilah) Kopischke, Luke (Tootie) Kopischke, and Alvin Kopischke; nephew, Charles (Deanna) Kopischke.
