Mankato resident, Ralph H. Freese, age 88, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato with Rev. Dan Weise, officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park at a later date.
Ralph was born September 4, 1924 in New Ulm, MN to Eilert and Veronica (Maas) Freese. He graduated from New Ulm High School. He worked with his father in a shoe repair shop in New Ulm before moving to Mankato where he worked as a mold and pattern maker at Mankato Corporation (Mankato Paper Box Co.) until his retirement. He married Pauline Sens in 1952; they later divorced. On November 16, 1974 he married Helen Rassieur in Honolulu, Hawaii. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, cribbage , working crossword puzzles and baking for his friends and family. His favorite pasttime was visiting with his many friends at Primrose where he has resided the last 2 years.
He is survived by daughter, Karen (Freese) Hansen and husband, Don of Mankato; sons, Mark Freese and wife, Marilyn Warehime of Maple Grove, MN, Tom Freese and wife, Ranne of Magnolia, TX, Paul Freese and wife Kim of Kansas City, MO; stepchildren, John Rassieur and wife, Cindy Rossow of Owatonna, MN and Sally Spinler and husband, Galen of Clarks Grove, MN; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and sister, LaVon Loberg of New Ulm, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; 2 sisters, Pearl Kraus and Marlene Turner and one brother, Donald Freese.
