MANKATO — Marie (Frasch) Vollmer, 91, of Mankato, MN, formerly of Sleepy Eye, MN, died Friday, September 3, 2010, at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato, MN.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 6, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, MN. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, one hour prior to the service at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, MN.  

Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, MN.  

Pastor Keith Siverly officiating.  

Interment will be at Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye, MN.. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, MN.

Marie Ann Vollmer was born on July 3, 1919, in Douglas, ND, the daughter of Oran and Mary (Scheibel) Frasch.  She attended and graduated from Trinity Catholic School in New Ulm.  She was united in marriage to Roger E. Vollmer on October 30, 1946, in New Ulm, MN.  Marie worked as a telephone operator for 10 years for New Ulm Rural Telephone Company.  The couple farmed in Stark Township until retiring and moved to Mankato in 1998.  In 2008, following Roger’s death, Marie moved to Keystone Assisted Living Community in Mankato where she resided until August of 2010.  Marie was a former member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church where she participated in Ladies Aid and was a current member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in West Mankato.  She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening as well as spending time with family and friends.  Her grandchildren were a special bright light in her life.  

Marie died on Friday, September 3, 2010, at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato at the age of 91 years.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Patricia) of Redwood Falls, daughter, Cleo (Roger) Matzke of Good Thunder, son, Mark of Mankato, grandson, Marcus (Emily) Matzke of Good Thunder, MN, and granddaughter, Sarah (Nicholas) Goelz of New London. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger in January of 2008, and a grandson, Patrick Vollmer.
