Catherine Iten

Catherine Jo “Cathy” Iten, 51, of Cleveland passed away on July 10, 2009 at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato surrounded by her family. She fought breast cancer for 2 years.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cleveland with Rev. Shelly Olson officiating. Burial will take place at German Lake Lutheran Cemetery, rural Cleveland. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

Cathy graduated in 1976 from St. Peter High School. She worked at ADC Telecommunications and was most recently employed at JC Penney in Mankato. She was also a Mary Kay consultant. She enjoyed spending time with her family and the outdoors especially taking her dog Mattie for walks.

Cathy is survived by her husband Tim; daughters Teresa (Matt) Snyder of Shakopee, and Jessica Iten of Mankato; her son Mike Iten and special friend Annette of Mankato; her step-daughter Missy Huhn and special friend Jim of LeSueur; grandchildren Ryan and Mitchell Snyder of Shakopee; parents Robert and Betty VonEssen; brothers Brad (Julie) VonEssen and Brian VonEssen all of St. Peter; sister Vickie Stocker of Cleveland; Tom and Donna Iten of LeSueur; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Cathy was preceded in death by her grandmother, Pearl Strand, uncle, Jim Iten, and brother-in-law, Allan Stocker.

Buck and Anna Mayer Buck, her sister Lucy Buck Lehman, her brother-in-law Ken Lehman, and her devoted friend, Dr. Jane Ann Roberts.
