WELLS — Barbara Ann Zimny, 65, of Wells, MN, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 23, 2010, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Father Mark McNea will officiate and burial will be in St. Casimir Cemetery in Wells, MN.
Barbara was born August 21, 1944 in Waseca the daughter of Clayton and Leona (Maass) Hansen. She graduated from New Richland High School in 1962 and then from Mankato Commercial College. On August 27, 1966, she married Robert Zimny at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in West Mankato. The couple had one daughter, Deb, and Barbara was very proud of her. Barbara was very active in her church. She volunteered at St. Casimir Catholic School and went on a few mission trips to Honduras. She was an office assistant and bank teller for many years. She worked at Security Bank for 10 years and Wells Federal Bank for 30+ years. She was a very giving person and she loved people—preferring to stay out of the limelight and let others shine. She enjoyed Seek-A-Word, riding her snowmobile and baking—she was famous for her banana bread. She also collected dolls and acquired an extensive collection.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband Robert of Wells, MN; daughter: Deb Zimny of Burnsville, MN; sisters: Deloris and husband Leo Holicky of Le Center, MN, Sandra and Tom Sommerstad of Hastings, MN; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Joan and husband Simon Haefner of Belle Plaine, MN; Kathy Hopp-Thibault of Mankato, MN; Rita and husband Dave Born of Waseca, MN; Berny and husband Richard Wolff of Prior Lake, MN, Joseph and wife Lori Zimny of Sparta, MO, and many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Therese Zimny.

Margaret C. Buck, known to many as “Mardy”, died peacefully on February 18, 2010, at age 87 due to complications of dementia. Mardy had been a resident at Sunrise Cottage of Mankato for the past 18 months. She was predeceased by her parents, the Reverend Harry W. Buck and Anna Mayer Buck, her sister Lucy Buck Lehman, her brother-in-law Ken Lehman, and her devoted friend, Dr. Jane Ann Roberts.
