NICOLLET — Margaret Freitag, 91, of Nicollet died Friday, February 19, 2010, at the Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with Pastor Luke Myslik officiating. Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Nicollet. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Tuesday. Margaret is survived by her husband, Harold Freitag of Nicollet; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Bob Runke of Nicollet; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Sharon Freitag of Nicollet; grandchildren, Justin Runke, Shannon Runke, Teresa Freitag; sister, Opal Schuch of Mankato; brothers and sister-in-law, Dwayne and Babe Nourie of Nicollet, Dennis Nourie of Mankato; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a stillborn son; seven sisters; and a brother.
Margaret Lavina Nourie was born on November 17, 1918, in Illinois to Arthur J. and Pearl (Glad) Nourie. At a young age she came to Minnesota on a train from Illinois with her family and they settled in the Nicollet area. She attended school in Judson. On April 23, 1940, she was united in marriage to Harold Freitag in Nicollet. After marriage they farmed her husbands family farm in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County. Margaret lived on that farm with her husband, Harold, until January of last year when she became a resident of the Mankato House in Mankato. In addition to helping out with the farm work, Margaret worked for many years at Dauer’s Department Store in Nicollet. She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet, a member of the ladies guild at church, and also helped with the counting of the churches Sunday collection. Margaret loved to play the piano and was an excellent cook who was known by all as having the best fried chicken around.

Margaret C. Buck, known to many as “Mardy”, died peacefully on February 18, 2010, at age 87 due to complications of dementia. Mardy had been a resident at Sunrise Cottage of Mankato for the past 18 months. She was predeceased by her parents, the Reverend Harry W. Buck and Anna Mayer Buck, her sister Lucy Buck Lehman, her brother-in-law Ken Lehman, and her devoted friend, Dr. Jane Ann Roberts.
