Lee Voss

Lee Lyle Voss, 91, of Cleveland, MN, passed away Friday August 7, 2009 at Grandview Good Samaritan Center in St. Peter.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cleveland with Pastor Daniel Buendorf officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. the day of the service. St. Peter Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.

Lee was born on July 27, 1918, to Frank and Anna (Loose) Voss in Sharon Township, Le Sueur County. He attended country grade school and graduated from Cleveland High School. He attended aircraft school in Los Angeles, CA, and worked at Lockheed Aircraft. Lee was united in marriage to Kathleen Zimmerman on June 26, 1941, in Las Vegas. He served in the Air Force during World War II from September 2, 1942, to December 1, 1945, with most of his service in the Asiatic-Pacific Aleutian Island area. After his war service, Lee farmed and was a salesman for livestock feed.

Lee was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where he served on the council and on the Cleveland Lutheran Cemetery Board for several years. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. Lee enjoyed his home and family, planting trees, and farming. Throughout their married life of 68 years, he and his wife traveled extensively from New Zealand to Hawaii to Alaska and many other states and spent retirement winters in Mesa, AZ.

Lee is survived by his wife, Kathleen; son David (Joann) of Cleveland; and two granddaughters, Kelli (Tim) Fischer, and Heidi (Andrew) Ladlie.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Harold and Gilbert Voss.
