Mary Helen Peterson, age 92, passed away quietly at her daughter’s home in Florida on March 26, 2009. Mary Helen Eberhart Peterson was born in Good Thunder, Minnesota, on August 21, 1916, the first child of Edward and Nellie Hook Eberhart.
Mary Helen graduated from Good Thunder High School and Mankato Teachers College. She worked at the 1st National Bank in Good Thunder for 4 years. She married Earl M. Peterson on June 7, 1941, and lived in Amboy. MN. She was proud of her lifetime Blue Earth County residency. She was a member of the Amboy Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a homemaker, enjoyed her family, gardening, the beautiful countryside and traveling.
Mary Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Earl Milton Peterson, of Amboy, Minnesota; and granddaughter, Juliane Marie Peterson of Phoenix, Arizona.
She is survived by her daughter Jane Backus (husband Bill); son Bruce Peterson; her sister Emily Eberhart; grandsons Jordan Edward Peterson and Christopher William Backus; granddaughter Catherine Jane Backus; three great-grandchildren, Emily, Tyler and Megan Sgarlatti; many friends and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at the Amboy Methodist Church on Sunday, August 16, 2009, at 2:00 p.m.

Margaret C. Buck, known to many as “Mardy”, died peacefully on February 18, 2010, at age 87 due to complications of dementia. Mardy had been a resident at Sunrise Cottage of Mankato for the past 18 months. She was predeceased by her parents, the Reverend Harry W. Buck and Anna Mayer Buck, her sister Lucy Buck Lehman, her brother-in-law Ken Lehman, and her devoted friend, Dr. Jane Ann Roberts.
