Arthur Clifford Lindberg, 84, of rural Mankato, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Decoria Township, with Rev. David Danner officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Decoria Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice.
Arthur was born on January 13, 1925, in Minneapolis. He was the son of August and Emma (Munson) Lindberg. Arthur was a 1943 graduate of Minneapolis South High School. He was united in marriage to Alice Elliott on April 8, 1943. Arthur served his country during WWII in Patton’s 3rd Army, 89th Division, 355 Regiment, 3rd Battalion, L Company in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany. Following his service, he graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College. Arthur taught at Dana College in Blair, NE for 10 years and at Mankato State University for 29 years. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Decoria Township. Arthur enjoyed raising and racing homing pigeons, exercising, swimming, and playing handball. He enjoyed every facet of life and lived life to the fullest. Arthur’s humor, kindness, and gentle spirit will truly be missed.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alice; four daughters, Barbara (Steve) Anderson of Mankato, Karen (Robert) Schull of Mapleton, Mello Lindberg of Mankato, and Nancy (Paul) Seys of Janesville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Donna) Lindberg of St. Louis Park; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven; two brothers, Eric and Harvey; and sister, Elna.

Margaret C. Buck, known to many as “Mardy”, died peacefully on February 18, 2010, at age 87 due to complications of dementia. Mardy had been a resident at Sunrise Cottage of Mankato for the past 18 months. She was predeceased by her parents, the Reverend Harry W. Buck and Anna Mayer Buck, her sister Lucy Buck Lehman, her brother-in-law Ken Lehman, and her devoted friend, Dr. Jane Ann Roberts.
