Glen Wollenberg

Glen Harlan Wollenberg passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in Overland Park, KS, following a brief illness. Visitation and Services will be held at Charter Funeral Home, Shawnee, KS, Monday, October 12, 2009. Visitation is from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.. Services will follow from 11:00 a.m. until Noon. Graveside services will conclude the ceremony at Antioch Pioneer Cemetery in Shawnee, KS.

Glen was born November 3, 1930, in Odell, NE, and proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the 1940s. In 1955, Glen married his sweetheart Ruth (Dexter) Wollenberg at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA, moved to Lincoln, NE, where their two daughters were born. Glen worked for Sidels Company in Lincoln, NE, and then began a long and successful career with Farmland Industries in Lincoln, Kansas City, MO, and Mankato, MN, as well as with B & H Petroleum of Mankato. Glen and his family lived in Mankato for 17-years and was a proud member of Hosanna Lutheran Church. He was also a long standing member of the Elks, Eagles and Moose Clubs. Glen enjoyed the last 12 years of his retirement working for Home Depot in Merriam, KS.

Glen is survived by his loving wife, Ruth (Dexter) Wollenberg, his two daughters Lori (Jamie) Jackson of Shawnee, KS, and Terri (Vernon) Foust-Wollenberg of Jackson County, IA; six grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews.

Glen is fondly and lovingly remembered by his family and friends as a handsome individual with an energetic outlook, passionate work ethic with exceptional strength.

He will be greatly missed and always loved.
