Betty Ziegler
Mankato resident, Betty (Rutjes) Ziegler, 83, died Friday, October 9, 2009 at Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Bethel Baptist Church. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m., Monday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
Betty was born January 13, 1926, in Vernon Center, MN to Trellis and Lois (Bunce) Spence. She married Robert Rutjes in 1945, he passed away and she married Kenneth Ziegler in 1976. Betty was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church. She also volunteered at MRCI Thrift Store for 39 years and in her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and baking.
Betty is survived by her son, Robert (Gail) Rutjes Jr. of Mankato; daughter, Judy (Dan) McCollum of Montgomery, TX; 5 grandchildren, Robin Burtzel, Josie (Rob) Wytaske, Julie Rutjes, Patrick (Erin) Anton, and Pauline (Mike) Medina; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert Spence of Willmar; 2 sisters, Nancy Weiler of Mankato and Marilyn (John) George of North Mankato; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Rutjes and Kenneth Ziegler, 2 sisters, 3 brothers and her parents.
