John ‘Johnny’ Bluhm

John E. “Johnny” Bluhm, 69, of Waseca, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Born in Waldorf, Minnesota, on July 21, 1940, John was the son of Martin and Dorothy (Young) Bluhm. He attended school in Waldorf before working on his family’s farm. On November 16, 1963, he was united in marriage to Kathryn K. Bakken in Alden, Minnesota. He worked at Brown Printing in Waseca for many years. Later in his life, he could be found every afternoon at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca spending time with his wife. He was a very active member with the Waseca chapter of the Eagle’s Club, where many of his friends considered him their “Minnesota Dad.” John loved life, he loved his family, and he enjoyed collecting coins, die-cast tractors and cars, singing karaoke, and watching Twins and Vikings games. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.

John is survived by five children: Mike Bluhm of Osceola, WI, Kevin Bluhm of River Falls, WI, Kris (Joel) Hagglund of Lonsdale, Jeff (Michelle) Bluhm of Medford, Julie (Jeff) Timmerman of Eagle Lake, and Diane Bluhm of Waseca; and ten grandchildren. He is also survived by five siblings: Clinton (Shirley) Bluhm of Waseca, Gary (Joyce) Bluhm of Waseca, Karen (Roger) Vagness of Rochester, Larry (Becky) Bluhm of Albert Lea, and Claudette (Brian) Swenson of St. Peter; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
