Bertha A. Morsching, age 73 of Waterville, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Paul.
Born in Le Sueur County, Minnesota on August 29, 1936, Bertha was the daughter of Thomas and Ellen Marie (Nikl) Coon. She attended school in Waterville, and graduated in 1955. Following graduation, Bertha was united in marriage to Melvin F. Morsching at St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church. She worked at Faribault State Hospital for eight years, and later at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center. She then worked at Walmart in Waseca for three years before moving to Backus, Minnesota, in 1992. While there, she worked at the Walker Ranger Station for eight years. She was a longtime member of St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church in Le Sueur County.
Bertha is survived by six children, LaDon (Helen) Morsching of Elysian, Stuart (Birdy) Morsching of Madison Lake, Kevin Morsching of Elysian, Melody (Charles) Morris of Waterville, Julie (Dean) Mertins of Waterville, and Russell (Rhonda) Morsching of Morristown; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five siblings, Rochelle (Roger) Miller of Waseca, Mary Ellen (John) Schultz of Squaw Lake, Alvin (Doris) Coon of Elysian, Dallas Tollefson of Blue Earth, and Randy Coon of Waterville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009, at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009, at St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church in Le Sueur County, with Rev. Russ Grabau officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the church.
