Memorial services for Good Thunder resident, Ivan Truebenbach, age 74, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009, at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by the Mankato Area Veterans Memorial Squad.
Ivan was born July 18, 1935 in Mankato, MN. He grew up and attended school at Ballard Country School and Mapleton High School. On June 9, 1959, he married Lorraine Storjohann at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Decoria Township and they celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. He served in the US Army from 1960 to 1962 at Fort Leonardwood, MO, and Lawton, OK. Ivan went to work for Dotson Company in 1963, retiring after 41 years. He was also a Good Thunder volunteer fireman. In his leisure time, he enjoyed collecting cast iron frying pans and John Deere toys, gardening, fishing and feeding the birds.
Ivan died at his home on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, the result of failing health over the last 5 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; daughter, Tracey Truebenbach of Mankato; sister, Elise Starke of Nicollet; and 3 sisters-in-law, Charlotte Truebenbach, Bernice Truebenbach, Laura Truebenbach; and special friend, Lynn Sternitzke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Viola; brothers, Art, Lawrence and Hilbert; sister, Grace Schlaak; and triplet siblings in infancy.
