Odelia “Odie” Hergert, 91, of St. Peter, died Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Rivers Edge Hospital in St. Peter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at the Church of St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter with Rev. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at the Church of St. Peter with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Odelia was born on November 20, 1917, in Cleveland, MN, to Joseph and Josephine (Laue) Schoeb. She grew up in the Cleveland area and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1935. She was united in marriage to Donald Hergert on October 18, 1941. The couple made their home in the St. Peter area where she was a homemaker for her family. She was a member of the Church of St. Peter, the Catholic Daughters, Garden Club, and the Royal Neighbors of America. She formerly sang in the choir and funeral choir at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Peter. Odelia enjoyed watching the Twins and the Vikings, playing cards, going out to eat and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Odelia had tremendous Catholic faith and it was a big part of her life.
She is survived by her children, Dennis Hergert of St. Peter, Dean (Diane) Hergert of Alexandria, and Mary Hergert of St. Peter; grandchildren, David and Dana Hergert of the Twin Cities; great-grandchild, Morgan Lorentson; grand-dog, Luci; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald in 2000; and ten siblings.

Margaret C. Buck, known to many as “Mardy”, died peacefully on February 18, 2010, at age 87 due to complications of dementia. Mardy had been a resident at Sunrise Cottage of Mankato for the past 18 months. She was predeceased by her parents, the Reverend Harry W. Buck and Anna Mayer Buck, her sister Lucy Buck Lehman, her brother-in-law Ken Lehman, and her devoted friend, Dr. Jane Ann Roberts.
