Lois Ann Brandt, age 77, of Mapleton, MN, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 at her home in Mapleton, MN. Funeral Services will be held Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s UCC Cemetery in Minnesota Lake Twp, Faribault Co., MN, with Pastor Bob Kleinke officiating. Arrangements are with Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells.
Lois Ann (Niebuhr) Brandt was born July 1, 1932, the daughter of Milton and Ella (Pestorious) Niebuhr in Alden, MN. She graduated from Alden High School, the class of 1950. On August 8, 1950 she was united in marriage to Eugene “Gene” Brandt at Grace Lutheran Church in Alden, MN. The couple had farmed together in the Waldorf and Minnesota Lake areas from 1950-1965. Lois worked as a cook and dietary manager at the Mapleton Community Home for 24 years. Lois enjoyed planting flowers, working crossword puzzles, baking, embroidery and reading.
She is survived by her sons: Jim (wife Jeanette) Brandt of Mapleton, MN, Gary Brandt of Sherburn, MN; 4 grandchildren: Michelle (husband Gregg) Schwartz of Austin, MN, Tim (wife Michelle) Brandt of Mapleton, MN, James Brandt Jr. of Austin, MN, and Lindsay Brandt of Duluth, MN; 9 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Autumn, and Eli Schwartz; Kyle, Collin, Ethan and Natalie Brandt; Samantha and Andrea Brandt; 1 brother: Kenneth Niebuhr of Alden, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene in 1994, brother and sisters-in-law: Marvin (Marvel) Niebuhr and Janet Niebuhr, and grandson, Troy Brandt.

Mardy had been a resident at Sunrise Cottage of Mankato for the past 18 months. She was predeceased by her parents, the Reverend Harry W. Buck and Anna Mayer Buck, her sister Lucy Buck Lehman, her brother-in-law Ken Lehman, and her devoted friend, Dr. Jane Ann Roberts.
