Evelyn Malwitz

Evelyn Malwitz, age 86, of Blue Earth, died Thursday, December 3, 2009, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 7, 2009, at 11:00 AM, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Dale Kohrs officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street, in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church. Evelyn was born August 27, 1923, at Ogilvie, MN, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Sternke) Mohr. Her family moved to the Bricelyn area in 1932, where she completed her education and was confirmed at North Blue Earth Lutheran Church. She was married to Mark Malwitz on December 21, 1948, and they resided in Blue Earth for their entire lives.

Evelyn was devoted to her family. She especially enjoyed following the accomplishments of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending family events. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and had been a volunteer at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center for several years. Evelyn loved music, tending her garden, crocheting, doing word puzzles and following her favorite sports team- the Minnesota Twins. She will be deeply missed.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Jim (Joyce) Malwitz of Vadnais Heights, Roger (Karen) Malwitz of Blue Earth, Grandchildren, Jessica Malwitz Boughton (Brad) of Isanti, Joshua Malwitz of Lakeville, and Laura Malwitz of Vadnais Heights; great grandchildren, Ethan Boughton and Isaac Boughton, sisters, Alva (Wilbur) Malwitz of Rochester and Emma Mittlestadt of Canby; brothers-in-law, Len Malwitz and Arlo Malwitz; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Mohr, Viola Paulson and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, parents, sisters, Esther Biesterfield, Freda Rosnow, and Sophia Brandsoy Yost; brothers, Robert, Clarence, Rudolph and Henry, Jr. Mohr; 11 brothers-in-law and 7 sisters-in-law.
