June Watts

Mankato resident, June Compton Watts, 89, died Friday, December 4, 2009, at Sunrise Cottage of Mankato. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Belgrade Ave United Methodist Church in North Mankato with Rev. Bart Fletcher, officiating. Interment will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.

June was born December 19, 1919, in Lewisville, MN to Frank and Jennie (Caswell) Kilmer. She grew up and attended school in Judson, North Mankato and Eagle Lake. In 1970 she received her GED. On January 7, 1941, she married Elmer Compton. Elmer died on January 24, 1977. On December 4, 1982, she married Allan Watts, Sr., Allan died December 28, 2006. June worked as a cook for MSU and also worked as a line supervisor for MRCI for 17 years. She enjoyed cooking sewing, crafts, traveling, and doing volunteer work. June belonged to Belgrade Ave. United Methodist Church, Mankato Moose Club, and Good Sams Camping Club.

She is survived by sons, Harlan and Nancy Compton of Mankato, Bill and Jan Compton of AZ, Gordy and Terri Compton of North Mankato, Wayne and Angela Compton of PA; daughters, Sharon and Gary Hewitt of Madison Lake, Bev and Jerry Marquardt of St. Clair, Marcia and Howard Pugh of Lake Crystal, Nadine and Mike Gatewood of Fairmont; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; brothers, Gordon Kilmer of Austin, Vernon Kilmer of Wisconsin; sisters, Arlette and Marv Austin of NM, Dorothy and Chad Diehl of Wisconsin, Carol Ann and LeRoy Booth of Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews; special niece, Wanda Weimar of Cleveland; step son, Allan Watts, Jr. and Julie of CA; step daughters, Adele and Ardean Grefsrud of ID, Annette and Steve Folkerts of North Mankato; 5 step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her 2 husbands; grandsons, James Compton and Dustin Marquardt; great grandson, Owen Pugh; 1 brother and 2 sisters.
