Louise B. Doyen, age 91, of Mapleton, died on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at the Mapleton Community Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 18 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, with Rev. Robert Kleinke officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-7 at Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home in Mapleton and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Barnard Valley View Cemetery.
Louise was born on July 28, 1918, in Sterling Township to Theodore and Josephine (Johnson) Olson. She graduated from Amboy High School in 1937. On September 18, 1940, Louise was united in marriage to Lawrence Doyen in Mapleton. Louise was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a lifetime resident of Blue Earth County. She helped out with the ladies aid at church and with 4-H. Louise enjoyed reading, the outdoors, making braided rugs, and especially enjoyed farm life.
She is survived by her husband Lawrence of Mapleton; two sons, Orrin (Yolanda) Doyen and Neil (Patricia) Doyen both of rural Vernon Ceneter; two daughters, Loretta Doyen of Coon Rapids and Leslie (Matt) Bedney of Rapid City, S.D.; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; and sister Mary (John) Klug of Waseca.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Deanna; grandson Lee; 2 brothers, Sherman and Alfred; and 2 sisters, Elonora and Evelyn.
