Harry L. Quast, age 91, of Waseca, died on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Waseca Medical Center.
Born in Waterville, Minnesota on January 17, 1918, Harry was the son of Adolph and Amalia (Geisler) Quast. He graduated from Waterville High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1941 until his honorable discharge in 1945. Harry married Ruth Staple Day in Waterville on April 24, 1949. He farmed for many years and also worked at Birdseye Division of General Food in Waseca for 27 years. Following the death of his first wife, Harry married Edith Derr in Big Stone, SD, in 1990. He enjoyed fishing and traveling and was a member of the VFW.
Harry is survived by three stepchildren, Joan (Charlie) Sebers of Margate, FL, Lowell (Berene) Day of Yunderup, West Australia, George (Janet) Day of Cushing, MN; six grandchildren — Rick Davis, Steve Davis, Gary Day, Tim Day, Dan Day, Nancy Day; two great-grandsons — Lochlin and Nathan; and one nephew, Don (Marlys) Krueger of Waterville. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one stepdaughter — Virginia Bock, three brothers — Edwin, Walter, and George; and two sisters — Esther Krueger and Ella Connie.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca. Interment will follow at Lake Gorman Cemetery-Cordova in Le Sueur County. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Margaret C. Buck, known to many as “Mardy”, died peacefully on February 18, 2010, at age 87 due to complications of dementia. Mardy had been a resident at Sunrise Cottage of Mankato for the past 18 months. She was predeceased by her parents, the Reverend Harry W. Buck and Anna Mayer Buck, her sister Lucy Buck Lehman, her brother-in-law Ken Lehman, and her devoted friend, Dr. Jane Ann Roberts.
