Maureen Marguerite Botten, age 69, of Mankato, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at her home.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. John Petersen officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to Christ the King Lutheran Church and the Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Maureen was born on August 4, 1940 in St. James, Minnesota to Adolph and Hazel (Ahlness) Oren. She graduated from Hanska High School and attended Mankato Commercial College. Maureen was united in marriage to Joel Botten at Linden Lutheran Church in Hanska on June 24, 1961. She worked as a secretary for Archer Daniels Midland Company. Maureen was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir for 48 years. She helped with Hilltoppers of Christ the King, was a member of the Sweet Adelines, and volunteered as a musician for various organizations. Maureen was also a member of the Sons of Norway, was an avid reader, played piano, traveled with her husband to Norway and other countries, and most of all was a very good friend and listener.
Maureen is survived by her husband, Joel Botten; daughter, Sara and special friend Paul of Minneapolis; sister, Dale (Marvin) Nelson of New Ulm; uncle, Elton (Nadine) Ahlness; two brothers in law, David (Leslie) Botten of Hanska, Joe Janke of Arizona; two sisters in law, Darlene (Kenneth) Pizel of Owatonna, Julie (Gary) Untiedt of New Ulm; step-mother in law, Vernelle Botten; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Hazel Oren; sister, Monica Janke; father and mother in law, Joel A. and Evelyn Botten; sister in law, Ruth Botten.

Margaret C. Buck, known to many as “Mardy”, died peacefully on February 18, 2010, at age 87 due to complications of dementia. Mardy had been a resident at Sunrise Cottage of Mankato for the past 18 months. She was predeceased by her parents, the Reverend Harry W. Buck and Anna Mayer Buck, her sister Lucy Buck Lehman, her brother-in-law Ken Lehman, and her devoted friend, Dr. Jane Ann Roberts.
