Earl G. Quiram, age 80 of rural Elysian, died on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato.
Born on May 8, 1929 in Elysian Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota he was the son of Arthur and Clara (Krueger) Quiram. He attended District #72 Swain School and St. Peter’s Parochial School before graduating from Waterville High School in 1948. Earl served in the U.S. Army from 1952 until 1954. Following his discharge, he returned to rural Elysian where he helped his family farm and he also raised sheep. He later worked for Northrup King and Phil Mart. He enjoyed gardening, planting trees and scrapbooking. Earl was a member of St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church, the Waterville VFW and the American Legion Post 311 in Elysian where he had also worked as a bartender. He was most recently a resident of the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.
He is survived by one brother, Melvin (Nancy) Quiram of Elysian; brother-in-law, Arthur Pfalzgraff of Brooklyn Park; five nephews; three nieces; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-Bernice.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church with Rev. Russ Grabau officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home of Waterville is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Waterville Good Samaritan Center of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
