People young and old had the same reaction as they walked into the Round House Model Railroad Club in St. James Saturday. Mouths open and eyes wide with amazement, people from age 7 to 70 wandered from scene to scene, following model trains of all sizes as they wound their way through the landscape.
The club opens its doors every Thursday and Saturday in December to show off their collection. Trains wind through mountains, over streams and past tiny little towns. Some of the sets are hands-on and at a height where children can not only get a good look at them but try out their hand at the engineer’s controls.
Some of the club’s members have history in the railroad industry, but others are simply model train enthusiasts who enjoy sharing their hobby with others.
