WATERLOO, IOWA —
It took six innings, but the Mankato MoonDogs finally got to Waterloo Bucks pitcher Jordan Foley and exploded to a 14-3 Northwoods League victory on Friday night.
Foley had a no-hitter through five innings when Chase Fowler broke it up with an infield hit. Mankato then took advantage of two errors and had seven hits as it scored seven runs in the inning.
That rally chased Foley from the game. Meanwhile, MoonDogs starter Adam Mott allowed one run on three hits and three walks and struck out nine over 61⁄3 innings for the win. Trevor Belicek went the rest of the way, allowing one run and no hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
Fowler finished 4 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. John Michael Twitchell went 3 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs. David Andriese went 2 for 5 with a triple and drove in a pair of runs.
The MoonDogs finished with 14 hits.
The MoonDogs (23-7) will return to Mankato and host the St. Cloud Rox at 6:05 p.m. today at Franklin Rogers Park. A victory will give the MoonDogs the North Division’s first-half title.
