Trey Nielsen’s three-run homer highlighted a five-run fourth inning as the Mankato MoonDogs downed St. Cloud 9-3 in a Northwoods League baseball game Sunday at Joe Faber Field.
The MoonDogs, who have won six straight games, trailed 2-0 after three innings, but Nielsen hit a three-run homer to get the fourth-inning rally started. Zach Luevanos and Drew Stankiewicz hit consecutive doubles, followed by Trever Allen’s single that made it 5-2.
In the fifth, Craig Massoni had an RBI triple, followed by Luevanos’ single for a 7-2 lead.
The MoonDogs added two unearned runs in the seventh, with Stankiewicz collecting a sacrifice fly.
Wayland Moore pitched 51⁄3 innings to get the win.
Mankato (25-7) opens a three-game homestand with Waterloo today, beginning at 7:05 p.m. at Franklin Rogers Park.
