WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WIS. —
Mankato’s Blake Schwartz pitched a perfect first inning to get the North team started in a 6-3 victory over the South at the Northwoods League All-Star game on Monday.
Schwartz got two outs on grounders and another on a flyout. Teammate Matt Mazzoni pitched 2/3 of the fifth inning, allowing one hit with one strikeout.
The North scored two runs in the first inning. Mankato’s Nick Judkins doubled and scored, and Shaun Cooper had an RBI groundout. Judkins drew a walk in the third, and Cooper was hit by a pitch and scored a run in the third inning. Both players had three plate appearances.
The MoonDogs (28-16, 5-5 in second half) resume play at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday against St. Cloud at Franklin Rogers Park.
