Rochester rallies to down MoonDogs

ROCHESTER — If the Rochester Honkers were awed in any way by Mankato’s recent ascension into first place in the North Division of the Northwoods League Sunday, they didn’t show it.

Trailing 6-2 going into the bottom of the ninth, the Honkers rallied for five runs to down the MoonDogs 7-6. An RBI single by Justin Parr, a balk and a three-run homer by Reid Roper facilitated the Rochester comeback.

Chris Munoz, J.M. Twitchell, Trey Nielsen and Dan Sheppard smacked two hits apiece to lead Mankato. Sheppard had a home run and two RBIs. Nick Ratajczak also drove in a run.

Patrick Goelz pitched the final inning for the MoonDogs to take the loss. Davis Henderson started and gave up two runs through the first six innings.
