MSU women keep on rolling

MANKATO — MARSHALL — The Minnesota State women’s basketball team put five players in double figures Friday as it remained undefeated with an 86-56 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win over Southwest Minnesota State.

The Mavericks led by seven points at halftime and then outscored the Mustangs 50-27 in the final frame. Karlee Gengenbacher led MSU with 22 points and five steals.

Aubrey Davis scored 14 points, Jamella Hudnell tallied 13, Ashley Olson scored 12 and Ali Wilkinson netted 10. Wilkinson had a team-high seven rebounds. MSU outrebounded SMSU 41-33.

MSU shot 45.8 percent from 3-point range (11 of 24) compared to 23.1 percent (3 of 13) for the Mustangs. Southwest Minnesota State falls to 1-8 and 0-4 in the NSIC.

MSU (7-0, 4-0) plays at the University of Sioux Falls at 4 p.m. today in South Dakota.
