MSU women fall to Wayne State 78-56

WAYNE, NEB. — Minnesota State University’s Ali Wilkinson scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds in a 78-56 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women’s basketball loss to No. 19 Wayne State Saturday.

The Maverick’s missed their first four shots of the game, and found themselves in an early 8-0 deficit. Sophomore Jamie Bresnahan finally put the Mavericks on the board four minutes into the contest. Wilkinson set the pace in the first-half with eight points and five rebounds. MSU still found itself down 78-56 at halftime.

The Mavericks finished the game shooting 21 for 62 from the floor, 5 for 20 from 3-point range and 9 for 14 from the free-throw line.

Ashley Olson finished with 11 points for the Mavericks.

MSU (9-2, 5-2 NSIC) takes on Northern State at 6 p.m. Friday at Bresnan Arena.
