Cold postpones athletic events

MANKATO — The extreme cold weather on Monday has forced the postponement or cancellation of all athletic events involving Mankato East, West and Loyola High Schools.

At West, the home wrestling triangular, the gymnastics meet at Faribault, the home boys swim meet with Faribault, the girls hockey game at Austin and the home boys hockey game against Austin have been postponed with no make-up dates announced.

At East, the wrestling meet at Faribault has been moved to Feb. 5 while the boys and girls hockey games with Albert Lea have been pushed back to Friday night (Feb. 1). The girls home hockey game will start at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The East/Loyola boys swim meet from Thursday has been postponed with no make-up date.

The Loyola girls basketball game vs. Bethlehem Academy has been canceled outright.
