West downs New Ulm 61-43

MANKATO — Mankato West rolled to a 12-point first-half lead and went on to defeat New Ulm 61-43 in a nonconference girls basketball game Thursday at the West gym.

Cara Christiansen led the Scarlets with 28 points and eight rebounds. Sarah Buryska scored 11 points with five rebounds and three assists. Lexi Shoper added eight points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists.

New Ulm was paced by the 15-point effort of Hunter Ahlness. Kelsey Anderson scored 10 points.

West (7-14 overall, 5-10 in Big Nine Conference) plays at Rochester Mayo tonight.
