No. 1-ranked Warroad received four goals and an assist from Lisa Marvin Wednesday on the way to a 9-0 shutout of New Ulm in the quarterfinals of the Class A state girls hockey tournament at Xcel Energy Center.
New Ulm trailed 2-0 with less than four minutes remaining in the second period before Warroad broke the game open with four goals. Warroad scored three more times in a third period that featured running time because of the goal differential.
New Ulm (14-12-1) begins play in the consolation round today against Hibbing/Chisholm. Starting time is noon at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.
