JM bests East in girls golf

NORTH MANKATO — Maren Peterson shot a 99 at North Links Golf Course to lead the way for Mankato East in a Big Nine Conference dual meet loss to Rochester John Marshall on Tuesday.

The Rockets shot a team score of 399, and the Cougars had 426 strokes.

John Marshall’s Katie Johnson was the medalist with a 92.

Other scorers for East included Caylin Steinberg with a 100, Amanda Broman with a 112 and Caitlin Clause with a 115.

East boys take third: Mankato East’s Nick Rockvam shot an 85 at the par 72 Northern Hills Golf Course in Rochester.

East took third in the three-team Big Nine Conference meet with a team score of 346. Rochester Century shot a 320, and Rochester John Marshall had 344 strokes.

Also for east, Nick Yess carded an 87. Peter LeBeau and Chris Sadaka each had an 88.

Century’s C.J. Fritcher was the medalist with a 1-under 71.

West boys finish third: Peter Jones shot a 1-over par 72 Tuesday to earn medalist honors and lead Owatonna to the team title in a Big Nine Conference triangular at the Mankato Golf Club. Albert Lea was second with 323 and Mankato West shot a season-low 332.

 The Scarlets’ Matt Newman carded a career-low score of 77. He was followed by teammates Ryan Bernin (83), Galt Goettl (84) and Justin Else (88).

MRC girls meet: Becky Koepp shot a 5-over-par 41 at the Le Sueur Country Club to earn medalist honors and lead Belle Plaine to a win in a Minnesota River Conference meet.

The Tigers shot a team score of 189. Jordan was second with 204, followed by Le Sueur-Henderson (210), Watertown-Mayer (223), Central (255) and Sibley East (281).

LSH’s Elle Hammes led her team by carding a 44. Sibley East was led by Liz Thies’ 61.

Madelia boys 173, Maple River 201: Mike Pace shot a 37 at Madelia Golf Course to lead the home team to a win over Maple River.

The Blackhawks’ Jordan Henry and the Eagles’ Kyle Schoneck tied for second with 43s.

Madelia girls 256, Maple River 243: Haley Simpson carded a 52 to lead the Blackhawks to a win over Maple River at Madelia Golf Course.

The Eagles’ Ashley Cole and Jessica Landsteiner each shot a 55. Madelia’s Vaness Raymond shot a 64.

MVL boys 205, New Ulm Cathedral 231: Ben Moldstad shot a 6-over-par 42 at New Ulm Country Club to earn medalist honors and lead Minnesota Valley Lutheran to the Tomahawk Conference win.

Corey Hoffmann shot a 53 for the Chargers, and Jacob Grunewald carded a 54.

Joey Hoffman shot a 45 for Cathedral.

New Ulm Cathedral 213, MVL 255: Meghan O’Brien carded a low-round 49 at the par 36 New Ulm Country Club to lead the Greyhounds to the Tomahawk win over Minnesota Valley Lutheran.

Ellie Dietrich carded a 52 for the winners. For the Chargers, Laura Albercht had the low round with a 61.

Waseca boys 324, St. James 426: Austin Snow shot a 74 to earn medalist honors as the Bluejays won the South Central Conference meet at Lakeside Golf Course.

Waseca girls 383, St. James 457: Melissa Bartz led the Bluejays with a round of 89 in the South Central Conference meet at home.

St. Clair triangular: Granada-Huntley-East Chain shot a 182 to win the meet at Terrace View Golf Course. St. Clair shot a 203 and Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial came in a 228.

Dylan Celander of GHEC was the medalist with a 40. Dylan Prange led the Cyclones with a 48 and Bradley Donovan and Damon Schmalzreit each shot 55 for LCWM.

All three girls teams were incomplete. Kia Ruch of LCWM carded a 45, Chelsea Green of GHEC shot a 46 and Kaylee Hoffman of St. Clair shot a 50.

Fairmont girls 371, BEA 425: Lizzie Larson and Megan Rosol shared medalist honors with rounds of 88 at Interlachen Golf Club. BEA’s Autumn Drake shot a 94.
