MoonDogs fall at Rochester

ROCHESTER — The Mankato MoonDogs suffered a rare Northwoods League loss on Wednesday, falling 14-5 to the Rochester Honkers at Mayo Field.

Rochester pounded out 12 hits, including a pair of home runs in the win. Cole Lankford finished 4 for 5 and scored four times. The Honkers opened up an 8-1 lead after four innings and made it 12-3 after six.

John Michael Twichell went 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs and two runs scored for the MoonDogs. Chase Simpson and Chad Christensen each had two hits.

Davis Henderson took the loss, allowing eight earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three over 4 2/3 innings.

Mankato (33-9, 5-2 in second half) will host Rochester today at Franklin Rogers Park.
