Munoz, MoonDogs thump St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD — Chris Munoz hit two home runs and drove in five runs as the Mankato MoonDogs defeated St. Cloud 13-6 in a Northwoods League baseball game Saturday.

The MoonDogs, who won three straight against the Rox, had three four-run innings. Mankato scored four runs in the second inning, with Munoz cracking a two-run homer and Dan Sheppard adding a solo shot to highlight the rally.

After St. Cloud got two back in the bottom of the second, Chad Christensen and Munoz each hit two-run homers to make it 8-2 in the third.

Christensen added a two-run triple in the fifth, followed by Munoz’s RBI single as the lead grew to 12-2. Craig Massoni had an RBI double in the eighth that made it 13-4.

Davis Henderson was the winning pitcher, going five innings and allowing two runs on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Alex Hill and Trevor Belicek finished the game.

The MoonDogs (13-5) host Rochester at 6:05 p.m. today at Franklin Rogers Park.
