MoonDogs down Lunkers

Steranka hits three-run homer, Schwartz tosses seven strong innings

MANKATO — Blake Schwartz allowed one earned runs over seven innings and Jordan Steranka belted a three-run homer as the Mankato MoonDogs closed out their series against Brainerd with a 6-4 decision in a Northwoods League summer collegiate baseball game Wednesday.

Steranka ripped his three-run shot in the fourth inning to help the MoonDogs take a 4-0 lead at Franklin Rogers Park. Brainerd rallied to close the gap to 4-3 before the ‘Dogs’ Trever Adams ripped a two-run double in the eighth.

Mankato second baseman Sam Lind went 3 for 4 and scored a pair of runs. Adams finished with two hits and also scored twice.

Schwartz allowed just two hits during his seven-inning stint. He struck out six without walking a batter.

Tim Fangman came on in the ninth to get the save. He gave up one run on three hits.

The MoonDogs (2-4) host Alexandria at 7:05 p.m. at Franklin Rogers Park.
