MSU women defeat Bemidji State in Northern Sun opener

Davis fills stat sheet to lead Mavericks

MANKATO —  

Aubrey Davis scored 18 points as Minnesota State opened the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's basketball tournament with a 94-77 victory over Bemidji State on

Wednesday at Bresnan Arena.

It was the Mavericks' 12th straight victory.

Davis also had six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Ali Wilkinson scored 17 points and had 10 rebounds, and Karlee Gengenbacher added 16 points. Steffaney Thomas scored 12 as the Mavericks shot 51.5 percent from the field.

The Mavericks (23-4) host Minnesota State-Moorhead in the tournament quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Saturday.
