NRHEG, St. Peter advance in Section 2AA

MANKATO — New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva improved its record to 28-1 on Wednesday, downing Hayfield 58-48 in a girls basketball game at Minnesota State’s Bresnan Arena.

The win came in the championship game of the Section 2AA, South Subsection Tournament. Hayfield ended the season with a 19-9 record.

The Panthers of NRHEG now advance to the Section 2AA title game where they will take on St. Peter at 8 p.m. Friday at MSU’s Bresnan Arena.

St. Peter 73, KW 66: Kelsey Carpenter poured in 33 points on Wednesday, leading the Saints to the win over Kenyon-Wanamingo in the Section 2AA, North Subsection championship game at MSU’s Bresnan Arena.

Olivia Haas finished with 13 points for the winners. Tailor Raymond led St. Peter with 10 rebounds. Lydia Kennedy had a team-high five assists and scored nine points.

The Saints take on NRHEG at 8 p.m. Friday for the Section 2AA championship at Bresnan Arena.

LPHT 55, MVL 46: Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity delivered the win in the Section 2A, North Subsection championship game at Gustavus Adolphus College’s Lund Center.

The improved LPHT’s record to 23-5. MVL closes out the season at 23-5.

In the other half of the bracket, Mankato Loyola downed Granada-Huntley-East Chain 59-42. Loyola and LPHT will play each other for the Section 2A title at 6 p.m. Friday at Bresnan Arena.
