Bethany Lutheran had four players reach double figures in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference men’s basketball championship, but it wasn’t enough as the Vikings fell to Northwestern 79-73 in a rematch of last year’s title game.
Garett Benson led the Vikings with 17 points. Deon Wright scored 12 points with four rebounds, Patrick Gavin had 11 points and four rebounds, and Gavin Kroehler scored 10 with nine rebounds.
Northwestern’s Lance Westberg led all scorers with 23 points.
The Vikings (12-14) were down 43-34 at halftime. They made 16 of 18 free-throw attempts and were 25 of 60 from the floor.
