Duluth trounced MoonDogs 13-5

DULUTH — The Duluth Huskies erupted for 24 hits in Friday’s 13-5 Northwoods League baseball victory over the Mankato MoonDogs.

Mike Avila pitched the first 4 1/3 innings and was roughed up for 14 hits and six earned runs. Relievers Davis Henderson and Kevin Corey finished up, combing to allow seven earned runs on 10 hits.

Wade Wass and Connor Joe did most of the damage for the Huskies. Wass was 5 for 5 with a double, a home run and seven RBIs while Joe was 4 for 4.

Nick Ratajczak, Chase Fowler and Audie Afenir led the MoonDogs with two hits apiece. Teammate David Andriese tripled and drove in two runs.

Dylan Thomas got the win. He allowed one earned run over 6 2/3 innings.

The two teams play again at 7:05 p.m. tonight in Duluth.
