MANKATO — Police in the Twin Cities suburb of St. Anthony say a man fatally shot his wife and wounded their son before turning the gun on himself.
Officers were called to the couple's residence about 8:30 p.m. Monday. Police say the 52-year-old man fatally shot his 45-year-old wife outside the residence before taking his own life.
Police Chief John Ohl says their 25-year-old son was shot in the leg, but apparently was not the target of gunfire. Officers recovered a handgun at the scene.
Ohl says the couple's three additional children, a 16-year-old girl, and brothers, ages 19 and 23, were outside when the shooting occurred. The chief says it's not yet known if they witnessed the shooting.
